One-stop shop for event planning

Nazareth's Your One & Only Wedding Boutique plans for all occasions.

Couples planning to tie the knot now have a much easier route to take thanks to a new all-in-one business in Nazareth.

Your One & Only Wedding Boutique, which held a grand opening Nov. 14, bills itself as Lehigh Valley's "premier one-stop shop specializing in all services you might need for your event."

Located at 139 S. Main St. (former All Gussied Up location), the boutique offers event planning for all occasions, not just weddings.

"Weddings are really just the beginning," said owner Paula Galante, of Whitehall Township. "We assist with any and all events — proms, sweet 16s, bat mitzvahs, anniversary parties. You name it, we'll help you every step of the way. You simply choose what services you want."

The services available are plentiful. Need a tuxedo? Done. Need a limo or DJ? Done. What about a photographer, videographer or photo booth? Done.

Clients can book musicians and officiants while shopping for jewelry, handbags and cigars. They can also take advantage of hair, makeup, spray tanning and personal training services.

Galante, who has worked in photography for the past 20 years, was inspired to open the business by a large amount of "burnt-out brides to be" who approached her about photography but ended up requesting suggestions for other services.

"That's when the light bulb went off," she said. "Why not offer it all under one roof?"

The only services the company does not offer are cakes, flowers and gowns — amenities that are offered within close proximity to the business.

"When the space opened up, I jumped at the chance because it's really an ideal location," said Galante, a graduate of Antonelli Institute of Graphic Design and Photography in Erdenheim, Montgomery County. "Cozze Cakes is directly next door. Bridals By Sandra is up the road. And Nazareth Floral Designs is just a little further up the road."

Galante and a team of helpers extensively remodeled the 1,000-square-foot space, adding a tuxedo changing room as well rooms for spray tanning, photo shoots and consultations. The ceiling was painted white, and decorative black and white wallpaper was added to the walls, which feature framed photos by Galante.

Hours, which are likely to expand, are 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Info: 484-264-6379 or youronenonly.com.

Not far from Your One & Only Wedding Boutique, an existing business recently underwent a transformation of its own.

Barbara's Treasures at 69 S. Broad St. turned its patio furniture showroom into a Christmas merchandise showroom in September.

According to owner Barbara Saslo, who lives above the store, the designated 16- by 40-foot Christmas space features everything from advent calendars and outdoor decorations to ceramic lighted Christmas trees (made locally) and more than 700 ornaments.

The festive display, which runs through the end of December, is the latest change at the business, which underwent extensive remodeling in the past year. Some of that work included new wall shelving that allows for an expanded selection of flags, banners, table cloths, place mats and runners. Info: 610-759-8367 or barbarastreasures.com.

Many Retail Watchers, including John Herman, have requested an update on the renovations at Spring Valley Inn (soon to be renamed Spring Valley Tavern) in Upper Saucon Township.

I reported in May that the establishment was expected to reopen in August or September after being closed since 2008.

According to co-owner Kim McCartney of Sewell, N.J., a few hiccups were encountered during the remodeling, but the building's upgrades are 80 percent or more complete.

"We are in the process of designing the menu, outfitting the kitchen and bar area, obtaining signage, etc.," she said. "We are ever hopeful to have all renovations, licensing, etc. in place within the next three months for an early spring/late winter opening."
