The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that work will begin Monday (Aug. 13) to replace the structurally deficient Hoch Road Bridge over Hokendauqua
Creek in Moore Township, Northampton County
Crews will replace the existing concrete box beam bridge with a new concrete box beam bridge.
Starting Monday, Hoch Road will be closed and detoured between PA 946 and Scenic Road. The posted detour will route traffic on PA 946, Point Phillips Road, Delps
Road, and Scenic Road. Motorists are advised to allow for extra time and use caution when traveling through the area.
The project is expected to be complete in November. All schedules are weather dependent.
Grace Industries, Inc. of Bath
, Pa. is the general contractor on the $463,423 project.
The Hoch Road Bridge was constructed in 1961. The Bridge is 43 feet long and 35.5 feet wide. The new Bridge will be 30 feet long and 40 feet wide. Hoch Road has an average daily traffic volume of 150 vehicles.
