  3. 'Tiny Pie' hits the spot

    'Tiny Pie" by Mark Bailey and Michael Oatman first caught our eye when my colleague <a href="http://bio.tribune.com/PamBecker">Pam Becker</a> pointed out Edward Hemingway's witty illustration of the grown-up party on Elephant Lane that sets little Ellie on a quest to settle the <em>rumble rumble rumble </em> in her belly. The illustration, Becker noted, was a riff on a song by early jazz composer Jelly Roll Morton, "Animule Dance," in which elegantly attired elephants and other assorted creatures take to the dance floor.
