The City Council on Wednesday gave final approval to landmark the Fulton Market meatpacking district, capping more than a year of impassioned resistance from many property owners and food wholesalers angry that the historic designation limits their redevelopment options.
The Fulton-Randolph Market District is the city's 56th landmark district but the first in an active industrial area.
