Second City performances canceled through Sunday after fire destroys offices

Second City CEO Andrew Alexander was in Los Angeles on Wednesday when he heard the news that a fire had started on the performance venue's block in Old Town. He rushed back to Chicago on Wednesday night and surveyed the damage Thursday morning. His third-floor office of 25 years had been destroyed, including personal notes and photographs of Second City alums Chris Farley, Martin Short and others. He especially mourned the burned pictures of the late comedian John Candy. "Those are kind of hard to lose.
