The spotlight will be on Tampa (and politics) beginning Monday as the Republican National Convention begins. For travelers who may not be familiar with Tampa, we offer this quiz about the city whose name may have originated from a Creek Indian word for “near it” or “a nearby place,” because of Tampa Bay, or it might mean “split wood for quick fire.” (Encyclopedia Britannica says that could mean the driftwood that was used liked kindling.) Either way, Tampa has a rich history and a vibrant culture that make this place a little gem, although maybe not in August. (See questions and answers for Nos. 11 and 13.)
