Logan Layman has been steadily making a name for herself in Hampton Roads music circles.
Layman, a 14-year-old Williamsburg resident, plays bass and sings lead in the duo In Layman Terms (with her brother Cole on guitar) and also in the blues quartet The UnXpected, which recently held an album release party in Newport News. Earlier this year, she took first place in the "emerging artist" category at the Sea Level Singer-Songwriter Festival, and as a result she will be headlining a show at The American Theatre in Hampton on Jan. 10.
And now there's this news: Last week she was chosen to perform at the 2015 Women in Blues Showcase on Jan. 23 in Memphis. She will be one of about 20 female blues singers and musicians from across the country who will perform at the event at the Center for Southern Folklore.
