Daniel Radcliffe is slowly becoming one of Hollywood's favorite bookish actors.

On Friday, Variety reported that the 24-year-old has agreed to star in the adaptation of Dave Eggers' comic novel "You Shall Know Our Velocity," with Peter Sollett directing.

Radcliffe  previously starred, of course, in the most successful book-to-film adaptation of all time, the eight-film multibillion-dollar "Harry Potter" series. He also played starring roles in the 2007 "December Boys," based on an Australian book, a 2012 British horror movie based on the novel "The Woman in Black," and last year's "Kill Your Darlings," in which he starred as poet Allen Ginsberg. Next year, Radcliffe will play Igor in a new version of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein."

The Hollywood Reporter writes that in "You Shall Know Our Velocity," Radcliffe will play "a bookish and awkward young man who sets off with a self-proclaimed ladies' man to take a late friend's ashes to the Egyptian pyramids. Armed with a round-the-world plane ticket and a $32,000 insurance payoff...their plan is to give the money away along the way to those in need."

The book will be adapted by Wells Tower, author of "Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned," whose work has appeared in Eggers' magazine McSweeney's.

Producer Christian de Gallegos said in a statement that Radcliffe's book-to-film pedigree made him the ideal choice for the role. "Playing the lead character in the biggest film franchise of all time, Daniel Radcliffe has managed to successfully establish himself as one of the most versatile actors of his generation," De Gallegos said.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in Spring 2015.
