Springfield's Tippe Emmott competes before millions for Miss America crown

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Springfield Glendale High School graduate Tippe Emmott shined before millions of viewers in the 2013 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas.

The Drury University student did not advance as one of the top 16 semi-finalists in the pageant.  The judges crowned Miss New York as the winner.

Emmott's platform as Miss Missouri focused on self-confidence.  Her talent was Ballet-en-Pointe.  Emmott was hoping to become the second Miss Missouri to be crowned Miss America.  Debbye Turner won the title in 1990.
