Each week, the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department provides us a list of some of the cases they've been called to over the previous week. Here are the notes from this week's media conference, as submitted by the Sheriff's Department:
On June 19th between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., an unknown person forced entry into a residence near 5200 S. 199th St. West, taking archery equipment, power tools, black powder firearms and a pellet gun leaving a damage amount of $580 and a loss of $4435.
On June 20th at 1:00 a.m., a deputy attempted to stop a reportedly stolen 1997 Honda Accord at 47th Street South and Spruce. The suspect continued eastbound on 47th Street to Cedardale where it went south. The pursuit continued a few blocks until the suspect vehicle struck two parked cars and the driver fled on foot. A K-9 assisted in tracking and the suspect, a 22-year old Wichita man was taken into custody. The suspect was booked on charges of theft, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and flee and elude. At the end of the pursuit, one patrol car did strike a shed causing minor damage and no injuries.
Between June 21st at 11:00 p.m. and June 22nd at 7:30 a.m. an unknown person entered a business, located near 10000 N. 247th Street West and took several spools of copper wire. Specifically, 20 spools of 12-4 wire, 6 spools of #4 wire and an electric motor were taken. The total loss was $57,000. Any information regarding this case should be reported to Sheriff Investigations at 660-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 267-2111.
On June 25th at 11:35 p.m. a deputy attempted to stop a 2000 Chevy S-10 pick-up, for traffic violations at 800 E. Kellogg. The suspect continued eastbound to 1-135, then south on 1-135 to the Lincoln exit. The pursuit continued northbound on Hydraulic and Wichita Police Officers were able to deploy tire deflation devices at Waterman, deflating all four tires. The suspect struck a light pole and brick building near 1600 E. 2nd Street and the pursuit ended at 1500 E. Douglas. The suspect, a 26-year-old Wichita man was taken into custody and booked for flee and elude, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and drive while suspended.
This morning, June 26th, deputies located two stolen vehicles in a motel parking lot near 5700 W. Kellogg. The vehicles were a Pontiac Bonneville and a Chrysler 300, both reported stolen through the Wichita Police Department. During subsequent investigation, a suspect was located in reference to the Chrysler. A search of the vehicle discovered a stolen handgun. The suspect, a 27-year-old Wichita woman, was booked for felon in possession of a firearm, drug charges and possession of stolen property.
