Lauren Seabrook comes to KWCH from Topeka where she worked as Evening Anchor and Reporter for Kansas First News. She started at KTKA in 2009 and joined KSNT and KTMJ during a merge in 2011. Lauren is a native Oklahoman and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in May 2009.
While attending UCO, Lauren anchored, reported and produced for NewsCentral, a local cable news affiliate. During that time, Lauren interned at KFOR and The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City.
Many of Lauren's reports in Topeka gained national attention and won multiple awards. On CNN's Headline News, she introduced the country to a northeast Kansas family who was the first to get their adopted children out of Haiti after a devastating earthquake. Her stories, honored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, include continuous coverage of the Reading tornado damage, Topeka school closings, live coverage of a home leveled by a gas explosion, and an exclusive interview with the FBI agent who identified Timothy McVeigh as the Oklahoma City bombing suspect.
Lauren has covered many high-profile murder trials in Kansas. She worked alongside CBS's 48 Hours team during the cold case conviction of Dana Chandler, and was interviewed as an expert reporter for The Discovery Channel's Investigation Discovery. She also covered the Kraig Kahler capital murder trial. Kahler became the ninth person on Kansas death row for the murders of his two daughters, wife and grandmother-in-law. In December 2012, Lauren was the first reporter on the scene where two Topeka police officers were shot and killed in the line of duty.
While reporting in the capital city Lauren covered the Kansas Legislature, election changes by the Secretary of State's office and State Board of Education decisions. She brings her knowledge of Kansas politics to Wichita.
The Sunflower State feels like home for Lauren, but she'll never lose her Okie roots. She's a die-hard Oklahoma Sooner and OKC Thunder fanatic. She loves working with the community and is always looking for interesting stories. She would love to hear from you!
