Sacramento Police arrested 32-year-old Zachary Gomez on a sexual battery charge and for resisting arrest after he allegedly groped a 14-year-old girl and a store employee at Arden Fair Mall Tuesday afternoon.

“A man had walked up behind them, slapped them on the rear end and grabbed them in the buttocks area,” said Steve Reed, security manager at the mall.

Security cameras captured the suspect arriving at the mall at around 4:00 p.m.  He was riding a motorcycle without a license plate and wearing a white tank top, shorts and white sneakers.  Reed said he left the mall dressed completely different from head to toe.

Sacramento police approached Gomez as he was leaving.  Security video shows Gomez looking agitated by the officer’s questions and then as two officers grab his wrists he takes off running.

What is baffling to mall security is the amount of planning that seemed to go into the crime.  “He didn’t have a license plate on his vehicle, he made an effort to check things out and the change of clothes to conceal his identity,” Reed said, believing it was the suspect’s attempt to avoid being detected.

What remains a mystery is where the suspect got his change of clothing.
