Pearl Harbor Survivors Group to Disband

Thousands of people marked Wednesday, December 7th, in different ways. It was 70 years ago that Pearl Harbor was attacked.

In Rancho Cordova, a group of Pearl Harbor survivors got together for the last time. The survivors had breakfast and swapped stories. “Some guy will bring up a subject and triggers something that you want to talk about and relate, and we bring out these little stories,” said Bob Castle, a Pearl Harbor Survivor.

The national Pearl Harbor Survivors Association has about 2,700 members, but their numbers are dwindling and they have decided to disband.

However, those in California will continue to meet. “We’ve decided to be the California Pearl Harbor Survivors, and we’ll keep going and continue on,” said Castle.
