OB/GYN Suspended for Allegedly Being High, Watching Porn on Duty

Dr. Peter Hickox, an OB-GYN, won't be working any time soon.

The California Medical Board suspended his license after they say he admitted to sniffing inhalents and watching porn in his office while continuing to treat patients.

"While in investigation, he cannot legally practice in the state of California," said Dan Wood of the Medical Board of California.

Dr. Hickox, who worked at Lodi Memorial Hospital and Sutter Gould Medical Center in Stockton, reportedly admitted to habitually inhaling a video head cleaner chemical during work hours, watching gay porn and pleasuring himself while high.

"I cannot tell if there's truth to that or not. Formal allegations will be coming out in a short amount of time," Wood said.

Hickox is not challenging the suspension and has agreed to counseling.

There's a possibility he can seek the help he needs and once again become a viable doctor, Wood added.

FOX40 tried to contact the doctor at his home Tuesday night. No one answered.

He is on indefinite administrative leave while the medical board draws up a formal complaint within the next 30 to 60 days.
