LODI—A Lodi High School student died suddenly during a physical education class Wednesday morning.
The student was a member of a physical education class designed for individuals with special physical needs. After the student collapsed, staff members attempted to revive him by performing CPR. The student was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced dead a short time upon arrival.
An e-mail sent to the staff of Lodi High School detailed the incident this morning. The student's name has not been officially released by the school, but at least one student has identified him as sophomore Tyler Henson.
Students and parents have yet to be notified by the school, according to a report published by the Lodi News-Sentinel, but would most likely be notified by e-mail later today.
The campus was on an early-release schedule the day of the incident. The school plans on offering grief counselors to students and staff when classes resume on Thursday.
