SACRAMENTO—This holiday season you can expect to see more security as you shop. Arden Fair Mall is one of many locations that are boosting law enforcement personnel.
This year the mall will have mounted officers, off-duty cops, bike patrols, and an army of mall cops. The increase in security is to backed up the more than 140 cameras watching your movements throughout the mall. Steve Reed Arden Mall's top cop insist those cameras are not an invasion of privacy, he said, "We don't watch people, we just scan through the cameras."
Still with the high number of eyes on mall visitors, shoppers like Eric Sturges doesn't mind, in fact he wants more security, he said, "I just rather be safe than being mugged or assaulted, you just never know what to expect these days."
Arden Fair is not releasing how many cops will be on sight or the expect amount of how much it will cost for holiday security, but they insist safety is worth every dollar spent.
