TAMPA, FL—An autopsy is planned to determine what caused the death of TV pitchman Billy Mays at age 50.
His wife found him unresponsive this morning in his Florida home.
Earlier, Mays was talking to the media about being aboard a U.S. Airways flight that made a rough landing yesterday at Tampa International Airport. He told Tampa Bay's Fox television affiliate that "all the things from the ceiling started dropping." He said he was hit on the head, but joked that he had "a hard head."
The coroner's office expects to complete an autopsy by tomorrow afternoon.
Police say there were no signs of a break-in or foul play.
Mays became a pop-culture icon by hawking products from OxiClean and Orange Glo to Mighty Putty. He was featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel.
