Big Rig Carrying 35 Tons of Cement Tipped over on Highway 50

A big rig overturned Tuesday morning on Highway 50 going westbound at Howe Ave/Power Inn Road.

The driver was entering the ramp and trying to merge too quickly onto Highway 50 when his truck tipped over.

The big rig was carrying 70,000 pounds of Type II cement.

CHP says the driver is ok. FOX40 reporter Sean Bennett says he saw the driver with white gauze wrapped around his hand.

The right lane is blocked and the ramp is currently shut down.

Alternative routes that drivers can use are the 65th Street expressway or Watt Ave to Highway 50.
