Officers were called to a home in the 100 block of North Palm Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Thursday after a report of a disturbance between a man and a woman in the front yard, Rialto Police Department Lt. Jill Carilo said.
The man, identified as 45-year-old Anastacio Verduzco, apparently claimed he had a gun and was threatening to shoot someone, Carilo said.
When officers arrived, Verduzco had "bricks in his hand" and was "threatening to do harm to the officers," Carilo said.
He refused commands to drop the bricks and officers zapped him with a Taser, which proved ineffective, police said.
The suspect allegedly charged the officers with the bricks and was shot twice.Verduzco was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
He would have turned 46 on Saturday.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials are investigating the shooting.
