NORTH HOLLYWOOD -- Police on Sunday were investigating a gang-related shooting that killed a man and wounded three people in North Hollywood.

The shooting was reported at 7:10 p.m. in the Valley Glen area of North Hollywood, near 13130 Vanowen St., said Officer Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Police Department.

"The victims were standing outside in a courtyard when the suspect approached and opened fire," Borihanh said.

"The first victim was shot in the chest," Borihanh added. "The second victim was shot in the stomach. The third victim was shot in the leg, and the fourth victim was shot in the hand."

Police established a perimeter in their search for a man wearing a black hat, but no arrests had been made.

The victims shot in the torso were transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition while the victims shot in the respective leg and hand were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

One of the victims later died of their wounds in the hospital.

There is currently no known motive for the shooting, but LAPD gang units are on the scene investigating.
