MID CITY (KTLA) -- Funeral services have been scheduled for an off-duty Los Angeles firefighter who died suddenly just days after his 33rd birthday.
Eric Shepherd, a firefighter serving the Wilshire Center and Mid City areas, died suddenly while off-duty on July 18, according to LAFD spokesman Erik Scott.
Shepherd, who turned 33 on July 12, joined the department in 2003 after serving as firefighter in Kuwait with the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his daughter Sarai.
The cause of death is still unknown.
A public funeral has been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29 at the Crenshaw Christian Center on 7901 South Vermont Avenue.
