The 47-year-old singer was found dead Aug. 11 in a room at the Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills.
Alcohol and prescription drugs were found in the room.
Lane reportedly had a history of alcohol-related arrests and was said to have struggled with addiction.
Lane wrote Warrant's biggest hit "Cherry Pie" back in 1989.
He eventually left the band to pursue a solo career.
The band released a statement on its website saying, "We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Jani's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Jani was a very important part of our lives for a long time. We will always be incredibly proud of the music we created together."
The band also posted a video of the song "Heaven" in Lane's memory.
In 2005, Lane appeared on VH1's 'Celebrity Fit Club.'
Born John Patrick Oswald, Lane originally hailed from Akron, Ohio and was the youngest of five siblings.
He is survived by his third wife, Kimberly, and four children.
