Take a look at artist De Wain Valentine's massive, free-standing slab 12 feet high and eight feet wide titled the GRAY COLUMN -- on view to the public for the first time at the Getty Center. A series of related lectures will teach about this modern artist and how he created this -- one of his largest sculptures cast with polyester resin.

Learn how scientists communicate with, command, monitor, navigate and return science data from spacecraft more than 100-million miles away Saturday at Mile Square Regional Park. That's where Jet Propulsion Laboratory System Ambassador John Hoot will explain how that information gets here. Also, scale models of Mars rovers will be on display.

California Coastal Cleanup Day
And, don't forget Saturday is California Coastal Cleanup Day. More than 14,000 Southern Californians will head to their local beaches and inland waterways on a mission to clear the sand and water of harmful and unsightly pollution. Last year, more than 80,000 volunteers from California removed a record 1 million pounds of trash! There are more than 60 locations that could use some TLC. Here's how you can find a clean up site near you.
