GARDENA- Three residences were flooded when an aging 14 inch water main broke, just 24 hours after another early morning water main breakage in the same city.
The broken main and residential flooding were reported at 3:06 a.m. at 134th Street and Budlong Avenue, said Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett.
John Dewey, a spokesman for Golden State Water Co.
A 20 foot section of the 66 year old transition pipe was replaced Saturday afternoon. Water service for residents was able to continue throughout the repairs through distribution lines.
According to Dewey, the cause of the break is believed to be due to the age of the pipe.
Saturday morning's break was the second in Gardena within the last 24 hours. Authorities said another break had been reported around 3:00 a.m. Friday at Marine Avenue near Normandie Avenue.
30 customers were lost water services as crews repaired Friday's water main break. No damages were reported.
