EL MONTE (KTLA) -- A man who led police to the buried remains of a body in El Monte is under arrest for murder.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department, the man walked into the Alhambra Police station on Friday and told officers they would find human remains buried in the backyard of a home in the 9400 block of Cortada Street.
The team continued to conduct a "slow, methodical recovery process," similar to an excavation on Saturday morning.
According to Sgt. Ken Perry, the team is searching for additional evidence that such as clothes, guns, bullets and knives.
The team is expected to continue the investigation through Saturday night.
Perry added that the current residents have nothing to do with the crime.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been released because authorities have not yet identified the remains or notified the next of kin.
The suspect remains behind bars on $1million bail.
