L.A. Deputy Charged With Sex Crimes With Teen Explorer
LOS ANGELES -- A L.A. County sheriff's deputy is charged with sex crimes against a teenage girl enrolled in the department's Explorer Scout program.

Deputy Manuel Enrique Perallon Jr., a 10-year veteran, is charged with one felony count of oral copulation of a minor and misdemeanor child molesting.

Perallon, 36, was in charge of overseeing the volunteer youth program at the Cerritos station.

Sheriff's officials say they were first alerted last year that the deputy was engaged in an "inappropriate relationship" with a 16-year old Explorer.

The investigation determined that Perallon had victimized the teen, Whitmore said, over the span of several months, sometimes while the deputy was on duty.

Perallon is free on $70,000 bail.

He is due back in court May 16.

Perallon faces four years in prison if convicted.
