Stabbing Victims' Defibrillator Stops Knife
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KTLA) -- A man's implanted heart defibrillator may have saved his life by stopping by the knife of his attacker.

According to police, the 57-year old man was stabbed by an acquaintance during an argument.

The acquaintance stabbed the man in the chest, but the blade was deflected by the man's defibrillator.

The medical device is implanted in the chest and shocks the heart if it gets dangerously out of rhythm.

Police say the man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

60-year-old Richard Kiley was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
