Oakland Man Arrested on Suspicion of 15-Hour Torture of Former Girlfriend
CHULA VISTA (KTLA) -- An Oakland man was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of kidnapping his former girlfriend, beating her and stuffing her into the trunk of her car to take her across the U.S.-Mexico border, an ordeal that allegedly lasted 15 hours.

42-year-old Marco Velasquez was charged in Alameda County with nine felony counts of kidnapping, false imprisonment, sexual assault, terrorist threats and domestic violence.

Velasquez reportedly tricked his estranged girlfriend into a meeting Thursday, at which point, the victim alleges, he kidnapped her at knifepoint, threatening to kill her once they arrived in Mexico. Officials said Velasquez blackened her eyes and knocked out several of her teeth before he bound and gagged her.

The victim reportedly was able to remove the gag and convince Velasquez from the trunk to stop at a hospital before continuing on to Mexico.

Hospital officials alerted authorities at about 4:30pm, and Velasquez was arrested as he sat in the waiting room, officials said.
