CANOGA PARK, Calif. (KTLA) -- A robbery suspect is dead after being shot by a Los Angeles police officer responding to a 911 call Tuesday morning.
Officer Bruce Borihanh says officers on patrol in Canoga Park responded to the 12:20 a.m. emergency call at a Chevron gas station where two pedestrians reported an armed man tried to rob them.
Borihanh says the officers spotted the suspect, said to be in his 20's, and began chasing the man on foot.
During the pursuit, investigators say the suspect turned and displayed a handgun.
The suspect was then shot to death by an officer, according to Lt Rick Banks.
Banks says the shooting was justified because the officer's life was in danger.
The suspect's weapon was recovered at the scene.
No officers were injured in the incident.
