POMONA -- For the second time in two days gunfire erupted in a Pomona neighborhood this morning.
The most recent shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. last night in the 1700 block of South Huntington Street near Fremont Street, Sgt. Matt Stone of the Pomona Police Department said.
Two gunmen are alleged to have walked up to the front of Martinez's home and fired multiple rounds.
The pair then fled in a dark compact headed northbound on Huntington Street, Stone said.
In another shooting that happened Tuesday in Pomona, 71-year-old Florence Anderson was killed. Police still have no suspects in custody and no motive.
That incident occurred just a short distance away in the 700 block of Mayfair Ave., between White and Park avenues, and was also reported just after 9:30 p.m.
The woman's two visiting relatives were also shot. Their injuries are unknown.
Anderson was known as "Mother Anderson" in her community. She often opened her home to anyone who needed help, including alcoholics, drug addicts, and even gang members.
Pomona police Lt. Mark Warm said police are now trying to determine whether the two incidents are related.
