For car dealerships around town, this is the most wonderful time of the year!

"Between Christmas and New Years is our busy week of the year," said Brian Sommerfelt, General Sales Manager of Southwest Lincoln Mercury.

Some say they sell more cars now than they do all yearlong. The reason behind the auto buying rush: meaty rebates, stellar financing, and enticing federal tax break set to expire this Friday.

"We are trying to move every single car that we can and customers are getting the best deals they can get all yearlong," said Sommerfelt.

Some of the best rebates include $4,000 on the Buick Lacrosse, $5,000 on the Cadillac CTS-V, Mazda RX-8, and Nissan Titan, and $10,000 on all models of the Cadillac Escalade and XLR. Financing is also at an all time low.

"They have a lot of different financing specials right now," said Sommerfelt. "Our most popular one is zero percent interest on Navigators for 60 months."

Experts say some of the best overall deals for leftover 2009 models include those from Chevy, Chrysler, Pontiac, Saturn, and Saab. GM announced up to $7000 off the price of Pontiac and Saturn cars because they will be discontinued. But you don't have to buy a 2009 model to get a good deal. Just ask the Guajardo's, who got more discounts than what they expected.

"We got a 2010 Mariner and I'm very happy with the deal," said Pete Guajardo.
