Despite the sluggish economy, TV sales at some stores are through the roof! Of course this is mainly due to people getting ready for those big Super Bowl parties!
Managers at Conns tell me this week is the second biggest of the year aside from christmas for TV sales. At all the stores in Houston combined, they say they will sell about 10-thousand TV's this week alone!
But not everyone is in the market to buy. Dee and Kathy Williams opted to rent two flat screens to add to the ones they already have.
"It's better than going out buying brand new tv and using it one time," says Dee.
He says it cost about four hundred dollars to rent and they can keep them for a month. "No matter where you are at have good view of game - going to have 200 people here really can't get everybody in one room," Dee says.
The Williams say their big Super Bowl Party has been a tradition for ten years.
"It's a pretty big deal. It's another way to get all the kids to show up, we've got five kids so it's mandatory attendance. A lot of their friends that they grew up playing sports with and their parents that we've lost touch with -it's a way for everyone to get together," Kathy says.
Rent -A-Center TV sales are also up this year. If you rent a big screen there you will have to put down a deposit of about $1,700. If you haven't got that plasma yet, there's still time. If you buy a flat screen before six on Friday the guarantee it to be at your house in time for kick off.
