Ladies never need an excuse to shop, but Wednesday night they were encouraged to shop 'til they dropped. And there was no guilt here, it was all for a good cause
Women of Wardrobe hosted its 8th Annual Sizzling Summer Soiree at Tootsies, benefiting Dress for Success Houston. Dress for Success is all about women helping women. The non-profit helps provide professional attire and career development skills to low income women entering the job market.
I had the privilege of co-chairing the event along with Joy Sewing, from the Houston Chronicle, and Melinda Spaulding, from Fox 26.
And what an event it was. The hundreds of guests had a chance to mix and mingle while looking at the hottest trends on the racks. Shoppers had a rare opportunity to rub elbows and talk fashion with hip young designers, Shirin Askari, David Peck and Whitney Port. Jewlery designer Claudio Lobao was also on hand showing off her latest designs.
We all know, shopping works up a thirst and appetite. Attendees could take a break from the fitting room to sip on a delicious Slimrita marg (saves calories too), and nibble on Sprinkles Cupcakes or mini-burgers from The Counter.
When it was time to buy their fab fashion finds, 10% of the proceeds went towards Dress for Success. Between ticket sales and purchases it's estimated that $15,000 was raised. Way to shop for a great cause!
Now in case you missed the sizzling event, you can still donate and be part of Dress for Success, Houston. Just go to their website: www.dressforsuccess.org.
