Phoenix, Az.—Much needed rain in Montgomery County Saturday brought along some trouble too. Severe thunderstorms and high winds knocked down tree limbs and power lines causing a mess for county clean-up crews. Lightning struck several locations which is believed to be what started a grass fire in New Caney.
Rain and fire at the same time... it seems we can't catch a break. But if you think we've been sweating bullets in Texas let's talk about Arizona! Phoenix broke a new heat record at 118 degrees! Meteorologists say monsoon clouds kept the city's temperature from climbing any higher, but those clouds were both a blessing and a curse. The monsoon brought strong winds that knocked down power lines causing several thousand people in Phoenix to lose power. No lights....no a-c!!!
It's so hot - even the sheriff there is bringing in ice for inmates at an outdoor jail.
When are we gonna escape this heat?
