A nasty computer worm that is laying dormant is set to wake up on April Fools' Day. It is called the Conficker Worm and it has already made its way into computers worldwide.
The computers here at The 33 News were even probed for an attack. No one really knows what is going to happen on April 1st, but companies that may have your information like Plano based Perot Systems say they've been watching this worm since October. It has already set up patches and firewalls to protect its information from an attack. Home users need to be ready as well.

This worm is a complex and can multiply quickly. Then as soon as the virus hunters get close to it, it morphs into something else.
Plano based software security maker McAfee says you need to update your security software diligently and find a Conficker Worm patch from Microsoft. McAfee Senior Vice President Barry McPherson says, "The first thing you should do is make sure you have proper updates from Microsoft. If you go to the Microsoft update center you can run quick scan and it will tell you if you have all the updates and that's really been the big key."
