OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma County prosecutors have charged a
woman who is HIV positive with trying to pass the virus that causes
AIDS to a security guard who caught her shoplifting.

Franchette Elizabeth Wilson allegedly bit the man Sept. 29 after
he saw her stealing a battery charger from a Lowes in north
Oklahoma City and attempted to detain her until police arrived.

Authorities say because the bite broke the skin, the guard had
to be tested for HIV.

The 50-year-old Wilson - who has AIDS - could be sentenced to as
much as life in prison if she is convicted of engaging in conduct
likely to transfer the virus.
