RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks signed wide receiver Michael Bumpus from the team's practice squad on Saturday to add depth to their decimated receiver corps for Sunday's game against San Francisco.
The Seahawks released Samie Parker to clear a roster spot for Bumpus. Parker signed with the team on Wednesday, but the Seahawks decided Bumpus' performance during the exhibition season with the Seahawks outweighed Parker's overall NFL experience.
The Seahawks have been hit with major injuries at wide receiver, leaving Logan Payne and Courtney Taylor as the starters for Sunday's home opener against the 49ers. Deion Branch and Bobby Engram likely won't return from injuries until October and Nate Burleson is out for the season after suffering a knee injury last week against Buffalo.
Bumpus and newly signed Billy McMullen will back up Payne and Taylor.
