A battle with brain cancer prevented Karen Lewis from trying to knock off Mayor Rahm Emanuel, but Friday she backed a man she thinks can finish the job: Jesus "Chuy" Garcia.
Garcia, a Cook County Commissioner, announced this week that he would run for mayor in hopes of "inheriting" the momentum Lewis had created as she pondered a run against Emanuel in the Feb. 24 city election.
In a video posted online Friday, Lewis directed her backers to get behind Garcia. In the video, Lewis spoke softly as she touted Garcia as a "man of the people" and the right candidate to oust Emanuel.
