Brawley resident Richard Allen Partridge, Jr., has been named as the 80th Assembly District's "2011 Veteran of the Year."
The U.S. Marine Corps veteran enlisted with the military in 1984 and was stationed in Jordan during Desert Storm, according to a press release from Assemblyman V. Manuel Pérez, D-Coachella. Throughout his 15-year military career, he received various awards and honors.“Mr. Partridge is a proud veteran who is deserving of recognition not only for his service to our country, but also for his ongoing dedication to veterans and his many contributions to the wellbeing of the Imperial Valley,” Pérez said in a statement.
After exiting the service in 1997, Partridge moved to Imperial County where he currently works for the state's Employment Development Department, helping local veterans find jobs and link them to other available resources, according to the press release. Partridge is also an active community member, serving with his wife Margarita with various non-profit groups such as the Girl Scouts San Diego-Imperial Counties Council and the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert, along with other organizations.Partridge is set to be honored Wednesday at a luncheon with the Assemblyman.
