Imperial Irrigation District will conduct two workshops during the month of July so the public may review the district’s PV/Solar Solutions Program for 2014.
Designed to help offset costs, the program provides financial incentives to customers who install qualifying photovoltaic systems at their home or businesses, according to a press release from the district. During the workshops, IID will review guideline modifications, the application process, energy-efficiency requirements and tentative incentive levels.
The workshops are scheduled:
· Wednesday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to noon, Condit Auditorium, 1285 Broadway, El Centro
· Thursday, July 11 from 10 a.m. to noon, IID Boardroom, 81-600 Avenue 58, La Quinta
The tentative budget for the 2014 PV/Solar Solutions Program is $5 million contingent upon board adoption of the 2014 annual budget. Applications for funds will be taken online from Jan. 2-17, 2014. A random selection process will determine the order in which the projects will be awarded rebate reservations. Those projects that cannot be funded are placed on a waiting list.
Since the IID PV/Solar Solutions Program began in 2008, the district has provided more than $12 million in incentives for solar energy systems in its service area. Collectively, 385 solar energy systems have been installed (representing all customer classes), generating nearly 12 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy a year.
