A woman died in an ice cream truck that crashed into a wash near Salton City on Saturday.
Pamela Flake, 60, who was thought to have been staying at a campsite in the Salton City area, didn’t have visible injuries from the accident where the ice cream truck, not currently being used in that capacity, drifted off the road and crashed into a wash off Highway 86, said Imperial County Sheriff's Deputy Coroner Steven Green.
A deputy driving on Highway 86 about 3:30 p.m. saw the vehicle in the wash after the accident and found the driver dead in the vehicle, Green said. There was minor damage to the vehicle from the accident, but no visible injuries to the woman.
An autopsy has been schedule for Tuesday.
