Tell us how you ended up in this line of work.
I love business, people and décor.
Describe what your business does.
Sell used items, furniture, pottery, décor and miscellaneous items.
What are memories from your career that stick out the most with you?
I was a lawnmower shop owner and an Imperial Valley College professor.
What do you most like and least like about your work?
I like people and working with my wife and son at the business. Least like is not having enough stuff to sell from Mexico.
What makes your business unique?
We have a lot of used stuff from Pier 1 Imports and pottery from Mexico.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to open a business?
Be ready to work hard and long hours. And No. 1: Love what you do, and the business will grow.
How do you give back to the local community?
I have served on the advisory committee at IVC, the El Centro Parks and Recreation Department as well as the Centinela and Calipatria State prisons. Also at our business, we offer good and friendly service, keep prices low and sell items that are not typically found here.
