Motorola looks to downsize HQ campus

Motorola Solutions no longer needs all of its sprawling, 286-acre Schaumburg campus after downsizing, and it is seeking a developer to help the company determine what to do with its extra space, officials said.

The company anticipates selling some of its buildings — a 175,000-square-foot information technology building and an accompanying 33 acres are already on the market — and redeveloping other areas.

"Motorola Solutions is working to remove cost from the company so we can operate as efficiently as possible," spokeswoman Tama McWhinney said. "We remain committed to maintaining our global headquarters on our existing Schaumburg campus."
