Gerald (Jerry) Fay Staggs, 72, also known as Gebby, passed away Thursday, June 27, in Independence, where he lived in retirement.
Born Feb. 6, 1941, in Huntsville, Ala., Jerry was a son of the late Gerald and Jewel Webb Staggs. He grew up in Stanford and worked in television and radio sales management in Lexington, Nashville, Tenn., Richmond, Va., Louisville, Dayton, Ohio, Fort Myers, Fla., and Naples, Fla. At one time he owned an advertising agency in Lexington and WIZE Radio Station in Springfield, Ohio. He was a lifelong member of Rotary International and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Jerry held a deep faith in God and loved his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was also preceded in death by a wife, Shelby Staggs; a brother, Jerry Douglas Staggs; and a sister, Shirley (Shirl) Staggs O'Banion.
Survivors include his children, Vicki Staggs (Bobby) Hendrickson, Brandon (Katie) Staggs, Tiffany Staggs (Steve) McMichael, stepson, Woods (Whitney) Davis, Jerry Lee Estes and Jamie Estes; grandchildren, Blake and Madison Hendrickson, Addison and Aubree McMichael, and Timothy and Elizabeth Estes; a sister, Sheila Combs; brothers, Robert L. Staggs, Billy Eugene Staggs and James H. Staggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were July 1 at Milward Funeral Directors - Man O' War, 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington. Burial will be at 11 a.m. today (July 3) in the Lexington Cemetery.
