A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at Veterans Park in Smithsburg on Friday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. Canopy and chairs will be available.
Covenant Presbyterian Church will hold a board game night Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.
The church is at 11833 Greenhill Drive, off Jefferson Boulevard between Robinwood Drive and Eastern Boulevard.
Bring your favorite board game to share with others. Snacks and beverages will be provided. The event is free.
The first Scholastic book fair of the school year will continue through Friday.
The Smithsburg Middle School student council will sponsor its fall dance for grades 7 and 8 on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Volunteers are needed as chaperones and to donate snacks for the event.

The Smithsburg High School Future Farmers of America is taking orders for its annual fruit sale. Tree-ripened Florida fruit will be available, including navel oranges, tangelos, red grapefruit and tangerines.

Health seminar planned at church
"Health Week: Discover the Keys to Your Health" will be held Nov. 6 to 12 at 6:30 p.m. each night at Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Drive in Hagerstown.
Dr. John Glenn Clark, who completed his training at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, will share his knowledge on the causes of many common lifestyle diseases and offer practical tips on how you can prevent, and even reverse, these debilitating conditions.
Topics include cholesterol, osteoporosis, ideal weight, diabetes, arthritis, cancer and hypertension.

Robinwood Players Theater Club at Hagerstown Community College will perform "An Evening of One-Acts Dessert Theater" Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. each night, in the Valley Eatery at HCC.
One-act plays to be performed include "No Exit" by Jean Paul Sartre; "Antic Spring" by Robert Nail; and "Café Murder" by Nathan Hartswick. Guest director and HCC Theater Technician Jason Buhrman of Williamsport will direct "No Exit;" HCC student Loraine Viar of Hagerstown,will direct "Antic Spring;" and HCC student Timothy Barr of Smithsburg will direct "Café Murder."
The event is open to the public. General admission costs $16. HCC faculty and staff can attend for $12 and HCC students can attend for $8. Attendees must be age 16 or older. Tickets are by reservation only. To reserve a seat, call 240-500-2225.
