Rick Socks, 58, of Middletown, Md., passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.
Rick was an active member of the Valley known for his amazing woodworking talent, and coaching numerous youth organizations. From the infamous “hammer holder ref” to the motivated security guard at Fort Detrick, Rick touched many people’s lives.
Outside of his many responsibilities, Rick loved the outdoors. In his free time, he would most likely be found wandering the local mountains in search of a trophy buck, fishing “hidden” farm ponds or simply enjoying nature.
Rick’s positive demeanor and outgoing personality were contagious to all in his presence. He loved all aspects of life and will be missed dearly by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
In honor of our father, we will be holding a memorial service Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, MD 21783, celebrating his short, but amazing life.
All who knew him are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made directly to the American Cancer Society in honor of Frederick B. Socks.
