Race for Ryan

The fourth annual Race for Ryan 2K/6K cross country race will be held Saturday, March 30, at Grace Academy, where the late Ryan Myers attended school and later coached junior boys soccer. 

The 2K fun run begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 6K race begins at 9 a.m.

Registration begins at 7 a.m.

The 6K race costs $20 before March 28 and $25 on race day. The 2K fun run costs $10 by March 28 and $15 on race day. 

The proceeds will go to the Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Garden club to meet

The Clear Spring Garden Club will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at St. John’s UCC.

The meeting will start with a potluck dinner.

Sandy Scott, retired horticulture consultant for the Washington County Extension office, will be the guest speaker at 7 p.m. She will talk about the “Life Cycle of the Dahlia.”

It’s a pot-it-up evening and all members will be given a tuber for summer bloom.

The meeting is open to the public.



Volleyball registration

Volleyball registration for the Clear Spring Middle School volleyball spring clinic takes place today.

Sign-ups for fourth and fifth grade will be at 6 p.m. for the clinic that begins Thursday. Sign-ups for sixth- to eighth-graders will be at 5 p.m. for the clinic that begins at 5:30 p.m. 

The fourth and fifth grade clinics will be on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and the sixth to eighth grade clinics will be on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The clinics runs through May 16. The clinic costs $20. 



Easter services

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 30 S. Martin St., Clear Spring, invites the community to Easter services on Sunday, March 31. 

The event will begin with breakfast at 8:45 a.m.

At 9:30 a.m., there will be an Easter egg hunt for all children and other activities, age appropriate, which will discuss why Christians around the world celebrate Easter. During that time, adults will enjoy each others company in the fellowship hall. 

At 10:30 a.m., worship begins, closing with communion.



Students raise funds

Clear Spring Elementary School students recently participated in a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society called Pennies for Patients. 

The students and staff raised a total of $3,600.42 by bringing in donations of coins and bills.  

Mrs. Ellis’s class was rewarded with a pasta and salad lunch provided by the Olive Garden Restaurant in Hagerstown.
