Police seized 10.2 grams of crack cocaine from a Martinsburg man who they say was wanted by the U.S. Marshals on a federal warrant, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court documents.
Michael Shavar Payton of 703 Second St., Apt. 2, was arraigned Tuesday night on one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver by Magistrate Charles C. Cole Sr., according to court documents.
Payton, 28, was being held in Eastern Regional Jail Wednesday night on a $200,000 bond for the drug charge, according to court documents.
Payton was wanted by federal authorities for alleged crack cocaine distribution as well, according to a complaint filed in magistrate court by Martinsburg Police Patrol Officer R.S. Fritz.
Police also found Payton in possession of two mobile phones, $140 in cash and two cigars, according to court documents.
The crack cocaine was packaged in a total of 38 baggies in a pouch in the defendant’s boxers, according to court documents.
