People walking on the C&O Canal towpath Sunday found a man who was injured in a fall at Maryland Heights, said Capt. Arnold Martin of the Potomac Valley Volunteer Fire Co.
The man, whose name was not released, was alert and conscious when emergency personnel arrived at the scene, Martin said. He was flown by helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Martin said.
The incident was reported at 3:52 p.m., a Washington County 911 dispatcher said. It was not known how far the man fell, Martin said.
Martin said the man was not from this area.
