A Keedysville man was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after he was struck Tuesday night on the U.S. 340 bridge over the Potomac River, Maryland State Police in Hagerstown said.
George Baugher, 63, address unavailable, was listed in critical condition Wednesday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said in an email.
Baugher was walking in the travel portion of the bridge when he was struck by a 2006 Freightliner at about 11 p.m., according to a state police news release.
Baugher was flown to Baltimore by state police helicopter, troopers said.
The driver of the Freightliner was identified by state police as Ellis Albert, 58, of Waldorf, Md.
The road was closed for about three hours as police investigated the accident.
